DF6 Charity Recipient Announced

Each year Drenched Fur hosts an Annual Charity Auction during the run. This year, the DF Organizing Committee has selected the EGN (Erie Gay News) as our recipient. EGN has been an integral part of the Erie GLBT Community for 18 years and a supporter of Drenched Fur since it began.

EGN (Erie Gay News) has served the Erie region's GLBT community since 1992. EGN publishes news and events of both local and national groups, and posts GLBT events to local mainstream media, in order to increase the community's visibility.

Quick facts about Erie Gay News:

• started the first local area picnic in 1992 and continues to organize this annual event, which is the largest pride event in Erie County, Pennsylvania.
• publishes a non-partisan voters guide
• frequently serves as a point of first contact for people new to the area (or considering moving to the area) or looking for resources
• takes pride in helping people find counseling, support, friends, and supporting other resources
• has had a strong web presence since 1997 and currently includes not only current and upcoming news, a complete searchable index of resources, but also a text GLBT local history going back to the late 1960's and a photographic history dating back to 1995.
• a copy of Erie Gay News is included in a time capsule that the City of Erie placed during the Bicentennial in 1995.
• copies of the EGN are stored in GLBT archives in Los Angeles, New York City, Toronto, Chicago, and
  Amsterdam.
• news and calendar feeds for Erie Gay News are carried on a number of different web sites.
